From the time she was a young girl, Mari Santo-Domingo already had the makings of a BeautiControl success story. She had a strong and independent sense of style and fashion, and she also knew that someday she wanted to be her own boss and own her own business.

“My parents owned their own business and they were strong community leaders,” says Mari, “So it was natural for me to develop an entrepreneurial and determined attitude that has allowed me to make the best of the BeautiControl opportunity.”

When Mari first joined the business in 1990, she would simply place an order every four months so as to not lose her Consultant status. It wasn’t long before Mari began to realize the power of recruiting and the full potential of her BeautiControl business.

“I remember when I went to my first national conference, Celebration, I had just gotten married and Celebration was my honeymoon trip without my husband Miguel; we couldn’t afford to buy tickets for two. I remember on awards night sitting in the back of the room asking myself, ‘What do I need to do to be up on that stage?’” Her question was answered… every year after that Celebration, Mari has been up on that stage, being recognized for her achievements.

Mari and Miguel decided to share their vision of the BeautiControl opportunity with as many people as possible in Puerto Rico. Since 1993, they have been instrumental in growing the Hispanic Consultant base for BeautiControl.

They used to translate their own literature for those clients and Consultants who only spoke Spanish. They were an integral part in the push for BeautiControl’s efforts to cater to the growing Hispanic market. She attributes this growth to her fervent recruiting efforts in Puerto Rico and a willingness to go beyond the call of duty.

Those efforts have been rewarded with trips to London, Paris, Vienna, Hungary, Budapest, Scotland, Ireland, Venice, Rome, Monte Carlo, Nice, Hawaii, New York, the Doral Resort, Boca Raton, Miami, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Hollywood, Las Vegas, the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, St. Thomas, Cancun, the Mayan Riviera and Cabo San Lucas… all thanks to BeautiControl, she says.

As a Senior National Executive Director, Mari continues to set high goals for herself and her team. She leads and mentors a team of more than 100 BeautiControl Directors. “Being able to make a difference and have a sense of belonging that makes you feel so special is one of my favorite things about BeautiControl,” she says.
